Hi Everyone
I thought I would do a quick summary of the proposed photography assignments ahead for me in 2024. Lots to look forward to. I have a corporate photography assignment next month for Brainkind in Glasgow, who do valuable rehabilitation work to help people thrive after brain injuries. I will also be preparing my infrared photos for a long awaited book on infrared photography in Scotland. This should be completed by June of this year. I will be working as a conference photographer in Edinburgh in March and also as a wedding photographer in Scotland in the coming months - looking forward to that after a good year in 2023 for wedding photography in Scotland. Other work includes my urban photography in Glasgow project and I will continue to shoot landscapes around the country with a visit to Glencoe and Fort William in the immediate future. The football and rugby photography seasons are in full swing, so I will be doing some freelance sports photography in Scotland in the near future - weather permitted. I will also be doing some theatre and music photography in Edinburgh soon. As a newspaper photographer in Scotland, I have a wide range of photographic experience, so if you are looking for a photographer in Edinburgh or Glasgow, or anywhere throughout Scotland for that matter, feel free to contact me through this website on the contact page, or phone me on 0775 213 5055. Situated in Falkirk, Scotland, the Kelpies are colossal horse-head sculptures that stand as a testament to the country's rich folklore and industrial heritage. These equine marvels, crafted by sculptor Andy Scott, have become an iconic symbol of Scotland, drawing visitors from around the globe. As an Edinburgh photographer, I visit this wonderful location on a regular basis.
It is important to keep a keen eye and artistic prowess, when you are trying to push the boundaries of conventional photography. Specialising in event and conference photography in Scotland, I try to master the art of storytelling through his lens. My recent foray into infrared photography adds a new dimension to this genre. Infrared Photography Unveiled:
Infrared photography involves capturing light beyond the visible spectrum, rendering ethereal and surreal results. This unique technique has the power to transform ordinary landscapes into otherworldly scenes, and the Kelpies provided me with the perfect canvas for his artistic exploration.
My Journey at the Kelpies:
Venturing into the heart of Scotland, Colin embarked on a mission to immortalise the Kelpies in a way that transcended traditional photography. Armed with my infrared camera, I navigated the picturesque surroundings, unveiling a hidden world not visible to the naked eye.
The Mystique of Infrared in the Kelpies:
My world of infrared images of the Kelpies reveal a mystical aura that enhances the already enchanting sculptures. The grassy landscapes take on an otherworldly glow, and the reflections in the water become dreamlike. The contrast between the dark metal of the Kelpies and the radiant foliage creates a captivating visual scene.
Challenges and Rewards:
Infrared photography comes with its own set of challenges, from selecting the right light to using the best infrared filter. The rewards, however, are evident in the breathtaking images that showcase the Kelpies in a whole new light.
Conclusion:
My venture into infrared photography at the Kelpies exemplifies the marriage of technical expertise and artistic vision. Through my lens, I invite you to see familiar landmarks in an entirely new way, unveiling the hidden magic that lies beyond the visible spectrum. As a professional event and conference photographer in Scotland, I love the distraction of doing something totally different with infrared.

The emotional side of sport by professional corporate, event and conference photographer, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Scotland
Introduction:
As the dawn of a new year unfolds, corporate event and conference photographers in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and across Scotland find themselves presented with a fresh canvas of opportunities to elevate their craft. In the dynamic world of professional photography, setting resolutions can be a powerful way to stay ahead of the curve, refine skills, and foster success. In this blog post, we'll explore some insightful New Year's resolutions tailored specifically for corporate event and conference photographers in Scotland. So here are my New Year's Resolutions event and conference Photographers in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Embrace Technological Advancements:
Resolution: Stay abreast of the latest photography technologies and incorporate them into your skill set.
In the fast-paced world of corporate events, staying technologically relevant is crucial. Whether it's mastering new camera features, exploring advanced lighting techniques, or delving into virtual and augmented reality photography, embracing technological advancements will set you apart as a cutting-edge photographer. This includes utilising wi-fi functions, improved ISO on cameras etc. In addition, it also means trying out new stuff, such as video and drone photography in my case.
Enhance Networking Skills:
Resolution: Cultivate meaningful connections within the corporate events and conference industry in Scotland.
Building a robust professional network is key to securing new opportunities. Attend industry-specific events, engage with event planners, and collaborate with other vendors. Networking not only opens doors to new projects but also fosters a supportive community of like-minded professionals. This is something that photographers have to work harder at, as we are not natural networkers and social media users.
Elevate Your Branding:
Resolution: Invest time in refining your online presence, portfolio, and personal brand.
In the digital age, a strong online presence is essential. Update your website, showcase your best work, and ensure your branding is cohesive across all platforms. Investing in professional branding communicates reliability and excellence to potential clients. Make sure you have a business email address, letter headed paper with branding and good quality business cards.
Expand Skill Set with Training:
Resolution: Enrol in workshops and training programs to continually enhance your skills. We all need to keep learning, nobody knows it all, especially with the technological changes we experience today. This year I am looking forward to doing a lot of conference and event photography in Scotland. Here is an example of some of my recent work. Investing in your education is a long-term strategy for success. Look for workshops, courses, and mentorship programs that align with your goals. Whether it's mastering new editing techniques or honing your communication skills, ongoing education will keep your craft fresh and relevant.
Stay Flexible and Adaptable:
Resolution: Develop the ability to adapt to changing circumstances during events. Even when you are doing well, it is important for conference photographers in Edinburgh, Glasgow and around Scotland to change and adapt to the ever changing world.
Corporate events are dynamic, and being able to adapt to unexpected changes is a valuable skill. Cultivate flexibility in your approach, whether it's adjusting to different lighting conditions or accommodating last-minute schedule changes.
Prioritise Client Relationships:
Resolution: Foster strong client relationships by delivering exceptional customer service.
Happy clients are more likely to become repeat clients and provide referrals. Communicate effectively, meet deadlines, and go the extra mile to exceed client expectations. Building lasting relationships will contribute to the success of your business, which will help you expand and improve as a conference and event photographer in Scotland.
Conclusion:
As the curtain rises on a new year, corporate event and conference photographers in Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Scotland have the opportunity to set ambitious resolutions that will propel their careers to new heights. By embracing technological advancements, refining networking skills, elevating branding, expanding skill sets, staying flexible, and prioritizing client relationships, photographers can position themselves for a year of unparalleled success in the dynamic and exciting world of corporate event photography.
So that's all for now, happy new year. Until next time.
Kind Regards
