Hi Everyone
As we move into February, its the start of the outdoor season, with more light available. As a landscape photographer in Scotland, there will be plenty of opportunities for landscape and infrared photography in Scotland. So for this weeks photo, I have decided to re-visit an earlier corporate photography Scotland commission I had at Loch Fyne for Scottish Enterprise. It was a fine autumn day and the job involved photographing journalists from China at the Oyster Bar at Loch Fyne and then of to the Loch to view the whole process of catching the fish, right through to cooking from start to finish(more photos from the kitchen and the venue on my website at www.colinwrightphotography.co.uk) Its one of my favourite landscape photography destinations and I look forward to returning soon. Here is an infrared photo from the shoot.
This week, I have a corporate photography event commission in Edinburgh and conference photography in Glasgow. I am also preparing some landscape images to be displayed following a brief at Thurston Manor, near Dunbar. This will mean up to 14 of my landscape photographs from East Lothian and Edinburgh will be displayed on the site. Looking forward to this. Then to end the week, some newspaper photography in Midlothian.
Until next time.
All the best.
Kind Regards
Colin

Hi All
As a freelance corporate event photographer in Edinburgh, I had another busy week with a corporate event in Edinburgh during the week, some infrared photography in Central Scotland and finishing of with some newspaper/PR photography on Saturday. The weather was pretty awful on Saturday but at least some of the games were on. It can be a bit of a struggle on these kind of days, as you are constantly trying to keep your gear dry, keep warm yourself and the light is poor, which can create problems for sports photographers in Scotland, especially later on in the day, however, never give up as you dont know what you are going to get on the day. I was lucky enough to be well positioned for an incident in the Dalkeith football game I was covering and caught a player and goalie mid air, photo attached, hopefully it will be in the Midlothian Advertiser this week.
Anyway, this week, some more newspaper photography in Edinburgh, a conference photography n Glasgow and I keep searching for the perfect picture with my infrared photos in Scotland
Until next time
Kind Regards
Colin

Hi All
I was covering a football match at the weekend for Dunbar United, well done by the way guys, great result, and as an event photographer in Edinburgh, Scotland, looking to do something a bit different, I decided to combine my infrared photography Scotland project with some newspaper and sports photography in East Lothian. What do you think, I kind of like it, more to come soon.
As an event and corporate photographer in Edinburgh I am also about to get in the swing of the event photography season and plan to introduce more infrared work into my corporate photography commissions in Scotland. We are all looking for that USP in as event photographers and I hope to offer my clients something that little bit different.
Anyway, until next time, enjoy.
More of the football infrared photos are also in the infrared section of my website.
Kind Regards
Colin

As an infrared photographer in Scotland, I am always looking for new subjects to photograph and as we all know outdoor infrared photography in Scotland needs sunshine, so the majority of photos will be taken in the summer, when we have more light. Not good if you are in Scotland I hear you say. Not necessarily so, the light at this time of year can be intense midday. Also there are less people walking around when it’s cold, which will give you more opportunity for a remote atmospheric shot, apart from the occasional walker and their dog (the enemy of the outdoor landscape photography). The misconception about infrared is that you need trees and flowers in full bloom and you can only take photos in the summer.
I won’t go into too much detail at this stage (more detail to follow at a later date) why the following subjects are good to photograph in infrared, suffice, it’s not all about trees and the following subjects worked for me, so here we go:
Anything with green foliage, ie that goes for grass, trees etc
Tree branches out of season
Reflections on water, particularly trees
Metal objects, although watch out for the direction of the sun and its effect on the metal surface
Buildings with glass, again, its their reflective properties which make the shot
Clouds mixed with blue skies
People, particularly performers
Cars and planes, their metallic properties make them ideal for infrared photography
If you can mix a few of the above subjects into one image, even better. Anyway, happy shooting,
Until next time.

Hi All
Back into the swing of things for the New Year. I have started to do a few articles on my blog, which are linked into my Linkedin account, some are on event and corporate photography in Scotland and some on the subject of infrared photography in East Lothian and Scotland. I have an equine photoshoot coming up in March, looking forward to that and a conference photography event in Edinburgh soon, in addition to some newspaper photography work in Midlothian and Edinburgh. I was on my first newspaper PR photography commission of the New Year in Midlothian at the weekend. All the sport was cancelled due to the weather, boo hoo, but I still attended a couple of events for the Midlothian Advertiser, one of these was a Family Fun charity event at Newbattle Church in Newtongrange. The photo I will eave you with is from the Newtongrange Silver Band. Well done guys great sound, hope I wasnt too disruptive when I took your photo.
Just looking out the window, the sun is coming out, as an infrared photographer in Scotland, I can feel a photo or two coming on.
Until next time.
Kind Regards
Colin
