Red Infrared Photography by Fine Art and Corporate Photographer Colin Wright, ScotlandHi Everyone I have some significant developments to report on my infrared photography in Scotland project. I have purchased a new 14mm Samyang lens, which takes pin shark images and gives me a wide angle perspective. I am also shooting more red images utilising some new software I have discovered. As a professional fine art and event photographer working in Edinburgh, Glasgow and around Scotland, I think it is always important to try new approaches, no matter what genre you are in, whether you are a wedding photographer in Scotland, or a landscape photographer, or even a conference photographer. I am using a manual 14mm lens which although forcing me to work harder, giving me more creative control over exposure and focusing and making me think a bit more. Too much nowadays we are all capable of being a bit lazy and relying on the technology and auto focusing on modern advanced cameras, but you should take time and step back and think about the basic elements of photography. I think the best photographers are the ones trained on film cameras, as they have had to learn about depth of field, focusing, exposure and other aspects of manual controls. This enables them to rely on their instinct often in stressful situations, rather than fiddling about with the dials in modern digital cameras, often in conditions of low light. I think everyone would benefit from whilst not necessarily going back to using film cameras, at least use manual exposure and manual focusing every now and again. So anyway, some conferences on the the go soon, as the corporate and event photography Scotland season picks again. So until next time.
