Hi Everyone

After a fair absence due to the pandemic, I have re-started on the wedding photography front again and its great to be back.  A friend and colleague in the photographic industry asked me to be a back up second shooter photographer, so she could concentrate on the video and some of the more formal images of the couple.  We have 3 weddings booked and 2 have already taken place in Glasgow and Perth and I have enjoyed every minute of them.  This article is mainly about how things have changed since pre-pandemic.  The main wedding change was of course for all event photographers in Scotland, to be honest, was in relation to the change from film to digital.  However there have been some significant changes since the pandemic, one relates to the absolute relief people have at being out, it is almost like being set free and you can see it in people at all corporate photography and event photography commissions in Glasgow Edinburgh and throughout Scotland.  The other main change relates to the technology.  I had just started using a Canon R before the pandemic.  It is a good camera but you can tell it has limitations relating to focussing and other issues, as it was their first mirrorless camera.  I now use the R6 and the frames per second and focussing are fast and much improved and better than anything I have worked with.  However the ISO performance is the main winner here, it is quiet simply outstanding and very little grain is evident even at very high ISO levels.  This camera is also perfect for sports photography in Scotland and Canon have brought out a range of lenses since the pandemic, with the non L lenses operating better than an old L lens with an adaptor, in my opinion.  The rest of the day is the same to be honest and I cant wait to get back into things.  Next stop Luss in Loch Lomond, cant wait.  I also have some theatre photography in preparation for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, in addition to some conference photography in Edinburgh.
