Hi Everyone

As things start to get back to a sort of a semi normal state, I have been getting enquiries for corporate and event photography in Glasgow and Edinburgh and I have an award ceremony photoshoot booked in Edinburgh next month amongst other things.  As I have now moved to Kirkintilloch, I am pretty much next to Glasgow and I was out at the weekend getting some urban photography images.  The weather was pretty awful but there is always a cloud under the silver lining and I was able to shoot some puddle photos in the centre of the city.  I started puddle photography as a student and had a bit of a reputation for it at the time, with fewer people doing it then than now and I have always enjoyed shooting from the ground up.  I loved it and although you look a bit daft (that has never bothered me anyway) it is a great way to get some unique low angle photos with really creative reflections.  I also like to convert to black and white and try infrared photography where possible (ie if you are lucky enough to get some sun after the showers).  Glasgow is a really interesting city to photograph with lots of glass architecture, people buzzing around and landmarks.  You have to be careful mind you as most of the puddles are in the gutter, make sure you don't get knocked down and keep your gear dry  Hope to do more soon.

Hi Everyone 

As a professional fine art and event photographer working around Scotland, one of my favourite destinations is the Kelpies installation in Falkirk.  From my earliest days photographing infrared this was one of my go to places.  This has also been the case after I was recovering from Covid and needed some therapeutic help.  So it is with great pleasure that I recently returned to this location, particularly since I live a lot closer to it now.  The new installations as part of the Canal Project also add to the venue.  Well done to the artists involved.   So why the Kelpies, well the metal installations come to life with infrared photography, there is water nearby, lots of foliage and people to give you a sense of scale.  It is ideal for colour and black and white and lends itself very well to drama.  I love it.  Oh and if you fancy a change then drop in up the road to the Falkirk Wheel. an engineering feast, although also a kind of art form too.

Hi Everyone

Apologies for the delay in completing my blog, what with covid in my household and a variety of other things, it has taken a me a wee while to get organised with my blog.  Its was great, after a long delay due to the pandemic, to get back to doing some serious sports photography in my new home in East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, first of all with Kirkintilloch Thistle for the football and then at Allan Glens Rugby Club last weekend.  I was only around for the first half of both games but that was enough to get back into things and hoping to do more soon, also happy to establish a working relationship with one of the local clubs to supply them with photos when I am free.  As a professional freelance corporate and event photographer working in Scotland, particularly in Edinburgh and Glasgow, I am hoping that the corporate event photography commissions pick up again soon.  I can't wait to get going again and hopefully things will start to pick up.  There is also been a resurgence in wedding photography and thankfully I have a few wedding photography bookings in Scotland on the horizon.  Trying out my Fuji gear for sport and enjoying working with the 100 - 400mm lens with the XT2.  Thinking of getting an XT3.  Also looking at extending my Canon gear to acquire a mirrorless sports lens and possibly a different Canon body suitable for sport.
