Hi All
A busy week of photography for this professional photographer
in and around Edinburgh, some corporate conference photography in Edinburgh
and Glasgow ending in a Supercar motor sport photoshoot in East
Fortune. So I have decided to do some Tips for photographing Supercars and Motor sport.
1. Use a monopod, this will enable you to use a longer
lens at a slower speed and also protect your weary arms.
2. Experiment with angles and composition, tilt the camera, move around etc
3. Protect yourself, always wear a luminous vest on track
and don’t stand too close. Believe me it’s not worth it.
4. It’s not always the longest lens that you use and watch
for shots when the cars aren’t moving, remember you should always aim to tell a story with
photography.
5. Experiment with speed, to create blur effects, movement etc Don’t always totally freeze
the action.

Corporate Conference Photography Edinburgh and More
Hi All
Another busy week as the infrared photography in Scotland slows down a bit with reduced light and less trees to photograph, I have been doing some supercar motorsport photography and the event conference photography season is in full swing in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. This week, we will be looking at more tips for conference photographers. As a professional corporate photographer working around Scotland, I am always aiming to progress my conference photography images. Last time we looked at some basic tips for conference photography. Now I am going to suggest some less obvious ones, which I have detailed below:
1. Take enough equipment to enable you to photograph in all kinds of light. You may think you know the venue and the light but what if you are asked to go into a small dark room to photograph a portrait, it has happened to me before. Don't over stock your camera bag but be prepared
2. Improvise. You may have a fair amount of gear but you cant overdo it, due to carrying restrictions and space, make use of white walls for headshots, lean your camera on a chair for longer exposure if there is no room for tripods etc
3. Become an expert with one lens and specialise in it for conferences and events. You will likely only use 2 lenses throughout the day, say a 28-80mm and a 70-200mm for instance
4. Make sure you get the shots, but don't be too intrusive. Try not to always use flash. take a few shots at the beginning and the end of a presentation, then back off. You don't want delegates or speakers to complain, or you may not be hired again
5. Be friendly obliging and cheerful. it may sound obvious but I have been to events with miserable and inflexible photographers, don't be one of them. Nothing should be a problem, but you can't be in two places at one, make sure you get the priority shots specified by the event co-ordinator.

Bungee Jumping and Event Photography Edinburgh
Hi All
Just starting to recover from a busy weekend of event
photography in Glasgow with the bungee jumpers. It is one of
my favourite photoshoots, as you can capture a wide
range if emotions ie fear, joy and relief. As a professional
photographer in Scotland, it’s all about getting that shot and
bungee jumping gives you that opportunity. Here are my tips for
bungee jumping photos:
1 Over expose slightly for the skies, especially if
they are not dark blue
2 Switch to manual exposure for consistency
3 Allow for bad weather ie lens cloth etc. You will
be pointing your camera up to the sky
4 Move your position as much as possible to capture
the subject at all angles
This week I have some corporate conference photography
in Edinburgh followed by some Supercar photography. In the meantime, I
will leave you with an infrared photo from East Lothian.

Corporate Event Photography in Edinburgh with a Difference
Hi All
After a pretty busy weekend with wedding photography in East Lothian and a bit of conference photography in Glasgow, I had another corporate photography assignment in Edinburgh last Thursday. As I continue to emphasise repeatedly in my blogs, I think, as a professional photographer in and around the Edinburgh area, that variety is crucial for photographers. Thursday was certainly a bit different with a team event for the Renewable Energy company Baywa. It started with indoor team exercises and finished with a treck around Edinburgh where the participants had to find there way to certain landmarks around the city, after this, they then had to complete a task. I won't go into detail about the tasks, let's just say they were livened up considerably by some of the characters on the teams. The bottom line is I had a great time photographing the event and I found new energy I didn't know I had. A photo is attached. Some sports event photography coming up with bungee jumpers and supercars soon. The infrared season is slowing down with the light and recent weather, so this has given me a chance to work on my new website at www.edinburghphotographer.com, more news to come soon on the progress of the new site.
