Hi All

I was covering a junior football game in Dunbar yesterday, well some of it at least, the usual stormy winter weather and Dunbar lost, at least they were losing with 5 minutes to go.  Never mind, its been a while and it was great to get back into some sports photography in East Lothian.  Wet weather is all about trying to keep your gear dry, is it water sealed, is it worth risking it, if you are not getting paid, best to go indoors and wait.  I have seen people out in all kinds of weather, when it is not a paid commission, not worth risking your £2k camera.  Its only last year I lost a camera to a wave in Dunbar, now I am mega careful, that and the fact that after 2 accidents by the sea, I cant get water damage insurance, it does tend to effect your behaviour.  Anyway, onto more important things.  I have a couple of interesting event photography commissions in Edinburgh coming up, first of all a children's rock concert, run by the Rock Project.  Then, a conference for NHS Education for Scotland and some wedding photography in East Lothian just after Christmas.  Meanwhile, I am preparing infrared framed prints for sale at Christmas, in addition to working on my new website at www.edinburghphotographer.com.  Its coming along nicely, take a look and tell me what you think.

Anyway better go and dry off my gear.

Hi All

Another day, another week. Its that time of year when professional photographers in Scotland turn their attention to more indoor photoshoots.  Normally I do a lot of outdoor photography events, bungee jumps, motor sport, football, and of course my infrared photography around Edinburgh and Scotland.  So what do I do when the light goes and it gets colder?.  Well actually I get pretty busy.  I prepare and re-evaluate my objectives and goals, especially my equipment.  What new gear will I need for the coming conference photography season in Edinburgh.  How can I upgrade my outdoor gear, given the likely event of a busy spring and summer weekend photoshoots next year and finally I start to think of how to sell my infrared work.  It is important that every outdoor landscape and fine art photoshoot is taken as part of an overall strategy.  This year I have been aiming to shoot high resolution photos, with a view to selling fine art infrared mounted and framed photographs to businesses and organisations, for them to display as high end fine art images.  I am also going for the Christmas market, with mounted infrared photos for sale at outlets in Edinburgh or through this website.  But most of all, I am looking forward to some corporate conference photography in Edinburgh and Glasgow and not getting soaked and having the wind blowing at me all he time outdoors.

Hi Everyone

With Christmas approaching some people start to wind down, but not this professional photographer from Edinburgh, I will have some corporate conference photography in Edinburgh, Wedding photography in East Lothian and a rock music photography concert in Edinburgh, but the main focus, if you pardon the pun, in today's blog is to let you all know about my infrared photography fine art images which are currently on sale at the Dark Room, in Ocean Terminal, in Edinburgh, or through my website at www.colinwrightphotography.co.uk.  I am now using a Nikon D800 high resolution camera for my infrared work, in addition to my trusty old Lumix.  There are black and white and colour infrared prints or downloads fore sale, some traditional looking black and white images and some surreal colour stuff, whatever you prefer.  The photos were taken in East Lothian, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Argyll, the Isle of Skye and Germany, in addition to other locations you may recognise.

This brings me to the second part of the blog, my new website, which is now online at www.edinburghphotographer.com.  It features my corporate photography and my infrared and fine art images and will eventually be my main website.  So take a look and be part of the infrared photography in Scotland revival.
